Overview

Restoran Station 8 sits quietly in the heart of Petaling Jaya, a true gem for those seeking authentic Malaysian flavors wrapped in a casual kopitiam atmosphere. Located at Jalan SS 2/10, this unpretentious spot draws in food lovers who crave classic Penang dishes and a variety of comforting local fare.

The identity of Station 8 is defined by its rich selection of noodle soups and rice dishes. Notably, the Penang White Curry Mee and Penang Curry Mee command attention for their aromatic, spicy broths that echo the heritage of northern Malaysia. Their Fish Head Noodles are a standout, offering a fragrant broth with fresh fish that balances a gentle sourness and spicy kick, delivering an experience that customers repeatedly praise.

Beyond noodles, Station 8 excels with its Char Kway Teow and Wan Tan Noodles with Char Siew. Both dishes highlight the skillful blend of textures and flavors—the wok hei of the char kway teow carrying the smoky essence, while the tender char siew elevates the wan tan noodles. The Kopi Hitam here is also worth mentioning; it offers a robust, smooth coffee experience that complements the savory meals.

The menu also reveals a thoughtful nod to diverse tastes, presenting vegetarian options like Lui Cha and Te'o Chew Braised Duck with salted vegetables and tofu. The inclusion of Penang laksa lemongrass and prawn noodles, served by Aunty Esther from Pulau Tikus, deepens the authenticity, inviting guests to explore the culinary tapestry of Malaysia.

The atmosphere at Station 8 is reminiscent of a bustling local kopitiam — lively yet approachable, it suits individuals, families, and groups looking for genuine, home-style dishes without pretense. While some patrons note that portions can be modest and pricing leans towards the higher side for kopitiam standards, the quality and distinctiveness of each dish often justify the experience.

Station 8’s ability to sell out Penang curry noodles early in the morning speaks to the demand and reputation it has built. The communal vibe paired with the variety of food stalls makes it an ideal destination for midday meals or casual dinners. It’s a place where the flavors of Penang meet the spirit of Petaling Jaya, welcoming all who seek a taste of tradition and comfort.

Saw a video by one of the food blogger. So went and try. Tried the fishball noodle, char keu teow, wan tan mee and hokkien mee. Apart from the wan tan mee and fishball noodles, the CKT and Hokkien Mee are over rated. Portion are small and everything is at RM10. Except my kosong wan tan mee which is at RM4.50. The kopi is nice. RM 2.40 for kopi-c kosong.

Uncle Dan fish head noodles is the best in PJ. RM16.00 per bowl. Good quality fresh fish and fragrant broth …. Pork ball noodle behind Uncle Dan was from O&S paramount years ago. CKT is good too ….. these are my fav 3 stalls. Curry mee is good but snobbish boss. I stopped eating curry mee here …

Tried the fish head noodles here (took the fish meat) and the sweet and sour pork rice. The fish head noodles (RM12) was good. I like that it had a good balance of sourness and love the chili. The sweet and sour pork rice was so so.

Great choices of good food at this local kopitiam ! Aunty Esther from Pulau Tikus Penang serves authentic Penang Laksa Lemak and Prawn Noodles. There's also a superb array of nyonya kueh at the front of the shop, ranging from Teo Chew kueh to nyonya kueh to malay kueh , yummy !

Try out few signature dishes here. The Fish head noodle is delicious and appetising, prepare to wait longer time as uncle manage everything himself from A to Z. Ordered a bowl of fishball from fishball noodle stall which is very outstanding too as its texture more to fish paste. However, the Char Kuey Teow not really meeting expectation, lack of wok hei. The busiest stall here will be Wan Tan Mee and curry noodle (close during my visit).

Tried this spot after seeing it featured on Instagram reels—this time, it was Penang curry mee. The broth was flavorful, though I personally would have preferred it a bit thicker for a richer experience. The portion size was decent, but I did feel the price leaned a little high. I went with the seafood version, which included squid, prawns, and pig blood. The seafood was fresh—definitely a plus! Pro tip: mix in the chili paste with the broth to give it that extra punch of flavor.

I couldn't sleep.... so got myself up, had my shower and drove out for my breakfast at my favourite Penang Curry Mee. I got my bowl very fast, que wasn't long cause my arrival was early. Awesome curry paste, great broth, sizeable prawns, tofu pok, blood jelly and awesome cockles. Now it's selling at RM12.00 a bowl. So delicious so lovely. Still my favourite.
